THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES

1. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Helps individuals identify and change thought patterns and behaviors associated with substance abuse. 

2. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness to manage emotions and improve relationships. 

3. Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Client centered therapeutic approach that helps individuals resolve their own ambivalence towards behavioral change. 

3. Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)

Focuses on increasing motivation to change and set recovery goals. 

4. Contingency Management

 Contingency Management: Provides tangible rewards for positive behaviors and abstinence. 

5. Peer Support Groups

Beyond 12-step programs, there are alternative peer support groups such as SMART Recovery. 

6. Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Addresses co-occurring mental health issues alongside SUD. 

7. Relapse Prevention

Teaches individuals strategies to recognize and avoid triggers and manage cravings to prevent relapse.

8. Educational and Skill-Building Workshops

Helps individuals develop life skills, coping mechanisms, and knowledge about addiction.

9. Harm Reduction

Used to decrease negative consequences of recreational drug use without requiring complete abstinence.

Helps individuals develop life skills, coping mechanisms, and knowledge about addiction.
